General Stonemason

A Stonemason’s work involves the conservation, repair and restoration of natural stone buildings. Not all of our jobs involve the upkeep of older structures, however and we are often tasked with the construction of new masonry structures.

These can often be built from different stone types in different regions in the UK, such as, limestone and granite, but mostly sandstone. These often contain a range of decorative features and intricate carved detail.

A good understanding of the wide range of stone types and how they react to various conditions is necessary for all aspects of stonemasonry.
